I followed the suggestion of one of the ladies at the Stormy Kromer facility, via phone call, and ordered one size larger than what I usually wear. My measurement gave me a 7 5/8, so I ordered a 7 3/4 cap. It fits perfectly. Of course, like everyone else who gets a new, nicely fitting hat or cap, I wore it around the house and the yard for the entire day and most of the night. It was comfortable enough for me to forget I was wearing it when inside. The current arctic blast has had me wearing this hat outside every day. It is a warm cap. Based on so many others' comments, I knew the ear flaps would not cover my entire ears, and they could be a bit more snug, but that is not this design. They do keep the breeze off my ears and is comfortable enough in sub-freezing temps, in the wind. The cap breathes well; I've not sweated in this cap even when climbing hills and carrying firewood, but still find the cap to be very warm, which is why I bought it. The brim is as long as a standard baseball cap, being about 2 7/8 inches, measured from the center seam to the tip of the brim. It keeps the sun and sleet out of my eyes, and off my face and glasses very well. This was a good purchase. I'm already looking at other colors to add to my outdoor gear.
