The Midway Cap fills the gap between the Original and the Rancher. Like the Original, it's uninsulated. Like the Rancher, it has longer, fleece-lined earbands for added coverage. It's the perfect choice for those who want more ear coverage than the Original without stepping up to an insulated Rancher.
-
Just as the name suggests, the Midway Cap offers warmth between the Original and the Rancher. It isn't insulated, but its longer, fleece-lined earbands provide more coverage than the Original without the added warmth of the Rancher.
-
Yes. The Midway's longer, fleece-lined earbands provide more ear coverage than the Original while maintaining a lighter, uninsulated design.

Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Midway Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

This cap is perfect for cold winters! The earflaps can be pulled down just enough to keep ears warm without feeling too tight. The cap is very well made and material is high quality. Its also very cute on my round head, where other hats make me look like a turtle.

I have an original in Ottawa that I wear most everyday from Oct thru March, along with a Rancher in Ottawa that I only wear 5 or 6 times a winter. Then there is an original in Indigo for going to town. Build a Midway in Ottawa and I will own a Midway!

I have both an original Stormy Kromer and the Rancher model. The first fits great but has limited warmth and almost no ear coverage. The latter is super warm and has good ear coverage but is oversized and puffy. It looks ridiculous until the temperature is -20, at which point standards change. The midway is the most useful for cold mornings in New Mexico, for which ear coverings are often necessary but the oversize bulk of the Rancher is too much. Same great quality fit and materials as the others.

I have 5 originals, and 2 Ranchers, but this is hands down "the best design" EVER from them! It's the original without the short flawed ear flap system. This one has ear flaps that actually COVERS your whole ear! Not as bulky as a Rancher or as heavy. Great looks, very warm even at -5 below. Best ever. Only complaint: wish it came in some hunting colors? Red/Black or the old Green / Black??? Absolute favorite cap.

at first i thought the string bow in the front was silly, but after wearing the hat, on a cold morning day. it was very warm, the ear flaps were very welcome. its a great piece of cold weather gear, sadly as it warmed up in the day i found it far to warm.

I've always loved the style and functionality of the original Kromer cap, but some times the ear flaps just didn't fit the intensity of the wind. This Midway Cap does the trick for those wintry winds though!
