It is not as warm as the original rancher hat that’s for sure ~ Hi Josh, Our Waxed Rancher does not have the same Thinsulate crown that our Wool Rancher does. There is a little bit of difference between the two styles. SK ~

My original cap didn’t cover my ears for extreme cold and windy weather. I ordered a Rancher’s Cap in hope that it would cover them. However, when I received it, it was extremely small for the size it was supposed to be. I returned it for a larger replacement, but haven’t received it yet. I love these hats. I lost the other Rancher I had. I thought I'd try the waxed cotton. I love it. Thanks for making great products.

Very well constructed hat, very warm repels moisture and dirt very well. I have 2 of these hats one in dark oak and one sand color. The pull down earband covers the ears nicely. Only complaint is would love to have the same waxed rancher cap but uninsulated for warmer temperatures and still have the longer earband to keep my ears warm.

I lived in Montana where this hat was worn.I live in south Louisiana now & it's my "Fudd"hat.I only know if you want to keep your head & ears warm , get one of these.
