The Waxed Rancher Cap is water-resistant, not waterproof. Its paraffin-treated waxed cotton shell sheds rain and snow in most conditions, but because the seams aren't sealed, it's not designed for prolonged exposure to heavy rain.

The Waxed Rancher Cap offers warmth comparable to the Rancher Cap. Instead of Thinsulate™, it uses Lamilite® insulation in the crown along with the same extended, fleece-lined earbands.
-
Choose the Waxed Rancher Cap if you expect wet conditions. Its paraffin-treated waxed cotton shell sheds rain and wet snow while developing a distinctive weathered look over time. If you prefer the classic look and feel of wool, choose the Rancher Cap.
-
Yes. The Waxed Rancher Cap's extended earbands fully cover your ears and provide added protection at the back of the neck, making it a great choice for cold, wet, and windy conditions.

Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

Spot clean with cold water whenever possible. If needed, use a gentle castile soap. Avoid hot water, laundry detergent, and dish soap, as they can damage the waxed finish. Over time, you may need to rewax your cap to restore its water resistance. We offer wax tins for that purpose.
