When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.

The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. With 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation, fleece-lined earbands, and extended coverage, it's made for those who spend real time outdoors in the cold. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.
No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.
Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

I have 3 hats right now the original red flannel, gray flannel for good and a brown waxed for spring and fall. Love them all warm and fit very nicely. Would recommend any body to buy one. Hope one day there will be a orange checkered flannel

I asked for and received the Rancher Cap in blaze orange two years ago for Christmas. This is an awesome cap. I only wear it during hunting season but I cannot believe what a big difference it makes over all of the other headgear I've worn over the years. I have yet to wish that it were warmer and oddly enough I've never gotten overheated in it when the weather is warmer. Maybe most important is the fact that it's a Made In USA product!

I recently decided to spend the money on a good warm hat for hunting versus my old $10 special. I wore this hat on a cold windy day pheasant hunting and my head stayed warm the whole time. When I got into the wind I could quickly flip down the extra neck flap and my neck stayed perfectly warm. I can't recommend this hat enough for hunters. Everyone in my family will be getting one next year for deer season.

I love Stormy Kromer hats as I have several, I recently purchased the rancher hat and I am a little disappointed that the stitching along the back flap is poorly done. I have a sewing machine and can fix it , but I’m disappointed in poor quality from Stormy Kromer! -Hi Steve, Manufacturing defects are always covered.
