  • The Rancher Cap is our warmest traditional wool cap, built for serious winter weather. Compared with the Original Stormy Kromer Cap, it features 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation in the crown and longer fleece-lined earbands for added warmth and coverage. When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.

  • Yes. The Rancher Cap's extended earbands fully cover your ears when pulled down and provide additional coverage at the back of the neck.

  • The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. With 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation, fleece-lined earbands, and extended coverage, it's made for those who spend real time outdoors in the cold. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.

  • No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.

  • Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

  • Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

    Love the Rancher, we have had 2 weeks of cold weather, highs in the teens, lows in the negative numbers. This hat kicks cold weather in the butt!

    My husband has wanted a Stormy Kromer for a long time & this year he bought his brothers one saying maybe another time he will buy his own. Well, thats when I made his Christmas because I ordered his 2 days before, printed off a picture and the smile when he opened up his stocking was priceless. It came the day I was told, it fit perfect & most of all he loves it. He wears it all the time & the quality is amazing!! Thank you

    Very warm and comfortable! I really like the fit and how it sits on the head. Other brands of the same type hat I have worn for 40+ years all slope back, especially when the ear flaps are deployed. While I like the fact that I do not have to take the hat off to put the ear flaps down, I would prefer for aesthetics alone, that they were not just folded up and inside out. With that said, I don't know how it could be done and maintain the ease of employing the flaps without taking the hat off and/or changing the fit of the hat. All my previous hats of this type have the ear flaps folded under and inside the cap, thus, in between the hat and the head. When employed, the hat is loose and the fit changed. The brim is a little shorter than my other hats, but does a fine job, especially when the ear flaps are down, as the cap and brim remain in the same position on the head. I have only had the cap for a few weeks and do not wear it daily for extended periods, so my review can not attest to durability. With that said, the materials and workmanship are first rate and I believe I will be wearing this hat for many years to come. Well done Stormy Kromer, and Made In The U.S.A. 5 stars if durability proves to be excellent like I anticipate it will. Buy American made!

    I'AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU STARTED MAKING A SIZE 8 BECAUSE YOUR 7,5/8 DIDN'T COVER MY EARS COMPLETELY. I GAVE MY FIRST CAP TO MY GOOD NEIGHBOR AND HE HAS FALLEN IN LOVE WITH IT. IT IS HARD TO EXPLAIN HOW WONDERFUL THE STORMY KROMER CAPS ARE, SO I TELL PEOPLE JUST BUY IT AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY THAT YOU DID.
