When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.

The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. With 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation, fleece-lined earbands, and extended coverage, it's made for those who spend real time outdoors in the cold. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.
No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.
Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

I received my Cap in time for yet another below zero day/week here in Western New York...The fit is great. it feels like it was custom made for my head. It is so warm and comfortable. It is very well made, You can see and feel the craftsmanship and pride which went into the manufacture of this cap. Go USA!!! These should be worn by the US Olympic team next month!!!

I had hoped the cap would have a higher wool content and been just a little larger. It will be a very nice cap.

If I had it to do over, I would not buy this cap because it does not keep my ears warm. Hi Faith, We're sorry you're disappointed in your cap. Of course you can always return it if it doesn't meet your expectations. Also, it could be that the cap is too big for you. We recommend a snug fit to be sure the earbands are as snug as possible. I have owned the original SK for many years. this year my wife bought me the SK Rancher for Christmas. The sizing did not fit like my original. It was way too big. We called SK for help. They were great. They walked us through the sizing process and sent us a new hat. Fits great. We were so impressed that they asked us to donate the larger hat to charity or someone in need. It has found a new head it can call home with a farmer in the area. He will really love it on these -20 days. Thanks so much SK!

Got my new cap in the midst of below zero weather so timing was perfect. Hat is so comfortable and very warm. Very adjustable flaps as well. Feels great on the back of the neck.
