  • The Rancher Cap is our warmest traditional wool cap, built for serious winter weather. Compared with the Original Stormy Kromer Cap, it features 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation in the crown and longer fleece-lined earbands for added warmth and coverage. When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.

  • Yes. The Rancher Cap's extended earbands fully cover your ears when pulled down and provide additional coverage at the back of the neck.

  • The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. With 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation, fleece-lined earbands, and extended coverage, it's made for those who spend real time outdoors in the cold. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.

  • No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.

  • Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

  • Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

    I have had a older Rancher for years and it was absolutely awesome. It fit perfect, looked perfect, and kept me perfectly warm. The problem started when I lost it and after searching everywhere, couldn’t find it. So, I bought a new Rancher. It isn’t even close to as good as the old one. I guess y’all changed the design very slightly because it is deeper. When on my head it comes down too far. The earband comes way down on my neck and eventually pushes the brim down in my eyes. The hat is the correct size but sits too far down on my head and neck. It also sits down on my ears and is very irritating. I’m still trying to decide what to do with it, but am pretty sure that it was 62 dollars wasted because I won’t be wearing it next winter. Like a lot of perfect things in life, somebody thought that they could make it better, but instead ruined an excellent product. ~~Sorry to hear your Rancher cap isn't living up to expectations.     Close to 5 stars but leaves me a bit "exposed." When I pull the ear flaps down, I get two issues that create the problem. When I try to get the flaps to the bottom of my ears, the flap will rest on my nape which then forces the the cap to pitch forward and the bill is now low enough to block my upper vision. Sure I can see straight ahead but not much above the horizon. I have to tilt my head back to see up. Now when the cap is pitched forward, the ear flap area has moved up exposing the lower half of my ears. So if the flaps were cut more in the shape of a horizontal figure 8, this would allow more material to hang down past the bottom of my ear. For me, adding no more than 1/2 inch in the ear flap area would provide coverage. But do not add more length to the nape as that would just pitch the cap forward again.     Fit ok. Way too much material in hat making it appear huge on ones head. ~~ Sorry to hear the cap doesn't fit as expected. It is one of our warmest hats with thick insulation, so it is a bit more bulky than our non-insulated caps. You can always return it within 90 days for a refund.     Recieved my rancher in blaze orange last week and was wearing it around the house. This hat is so comfortable that I forgot I was wearing it till I walked by the mirror lol. This will be a great asset in the fall on my next hunting trips. Will definitely be buying another hat for everyday use.
