When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.

The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.
No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.
Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

Excellent hat. The extended flaps cover the entire ear which makes it great in really cold weather. The cap itself also has more insulation in it. Great cap.

As with all my Stormy Kromer products the Rancher cap is top notch. Over the years I have accumulated a lot of Stormy Kromer products being an avid hunter & fisherman I find Stormy Kromer wool clothing the best I have ever used. Most notably my mackinaw jacket it’s my all time favorite hunting coat. Next on my list will be a wool vest for under the mackinaw coat on fridged days around my UP deer camp & on its own over a shirt for cool days. Best of all there made with pride in Upper Michigan!!

Great hat but it seems to have shrunk over the 20+ years of multiple sweat/dry cycles..or my head has grown…

I just received my Rancher cap, and my first impression is, WOW! The quality can be seen and felt immediately. The excellent workmanship goes hand in hand with the high quality materials used to put this masterpiece together. The fit is perfect. It feels warm! I have lived in Michigan my entire life, and wasn't aware of the Stormy Kromer story until I read about it I'm Woods and water Magazine not too long ago-foolish on my part! I am proud that Michigan has a long standing company rich in history and is producing such high quality hats and other merchandise. I urge anyone that is thinking about purchasing an item, do it! You will not be disappointed!!

Got this cap in hunters orange to have it for deer season. Sizing guide worked well. Cap fits perfectly. On a few windy cold days, flaps down the cap kept my ears and back of my neck nice and warm. Wind chill was around 5 degrees. Then on a sunny 40 degree day, flaps up the cap was still cozy without being overly hot. I’ve only had cap for a couple weeks so can’t say how it will last, but on initial inspection all seams were perfectly sewn. This is my 4th Stormy Kromer and I they all are great caps! It’s nice to find great quality made in the USA and even better that it’s made in the UP!
