Both are classic Stormy Kromer wool vests, but they offer different looks and features. The Button Vest has a traditional design with a button front, V-neck, and slightly heavier 26-ounce, 100% wool that matches our Mackinaw Coat. The Ironwood Vest has a more modern look with a full-length zipper, stand-up collar, and slightly lighter wool for everyday versatility.
-
The Button Vest fits true to size and is designed to layer comfortably over a flannel shirt or sweater. We recommend ordering based on the chest measurement in our sizing chart. If you are 6' or taller, you might consider our tall sizes.

A wool vest keeps your core warm while giving your arms full freedom of movement. It's a great choice for working outdoors, running errands, or layering when a full coat feels like too much. Many people find a vest to be one of the most versatile pieces in their cold-weather wardrobe.

The Button Vest is designed to keep your core warm without restricting movement. Its heavy 26-ounce wool makes it a great outer layer in cool weather or an excellent mid-layer under a coat in colder conditions. The V-neck design also layers comfortably over hoodies, flannels, and sweaters without adding bulk around your neck.
-
Yes, especially in snow. Wool can absorb up to 35% of its weight in moisture while still providing warmth, making the Button Vest an excellent choice for cold, damp conditions. It isn't waterproof, however, so while it will handle light precipitation well, it's not designed for prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
-
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Button Vest. Spot cleaning can work for small stains as needed. If the coat becomes wet, allow it to air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Never machine dry your wool coat.

Have owned now for 4-5 years- could not be more pleased with the quality, durability and continued sharp appearance of this vest. It is a rare occasion when I don’t receive 2 or 3 compliments on this vest with each wearing.

TERRIFIC quality puts others to shame. XL was too small and seemed small for fit-had to exchange so we will see how it wears and holds up. I have great expectations !

This is a great looking vest and I've had lots of compliments. The first time I wore it to the office the chatter literally stopped when I entered. Everyone was impressed! I had the good fortune to visit Stormy Kromer this past summer. Always wanted a hat and we were so close I made the time for a tour and picked out one I liked. Didn't even know they made other things but the vest impressed me. I didn't buy it right away but ordered it later around the holidays. Made in American and (I don't know if all the vests are like this but) with wool from American Woolen Company. A rare find these days! I've been wearing it every chance I get and it's a perfect when you need just a bit of warmth or as a layer under your regular jacket. I'm a size 42 sport coat and weigh about 170. I ordered a medium because I wanted a close fit. The large looked good too but I wanted this mostly as a layer under another coat. Definitely recommend!

I like that it has no collar and good fit. The vest is just the right amount of warmth.

Both classy and utilitarian. I can dress it up for work or date night and I can shovel the driveway and stay warm while keeping all my EDC items in my pockets!
