Both are classic Stormy Kromer wool vests, but they offer different looks and features. The Button Vest has a traditional design with a button front, V-neck, and slightly heavier 26-ounce, 100% wool that matches our Mackinaw Coat. The Ironwood Vest has a more modern look with a full-length zipper, stand-up collar, and slightly lighter wool for everyday versatility.

The Button Vest fits true to size and is designed to layer comfortably over a flannel shirt or sweater. We recommend ordering based on the chest measurement in our sizing chart. If you are 6' or taller, you might consider our tall sizes.

A wool vest keeps your core warm while giving your arms full freedom of movement. It's a great choice for working outdoors, running errands, or layering when a full coat feels like too much. Many people find a vest to be one of the most versatile pieces in their cold-weather wardrobe.
-
The Button Vest is designed to keep your core warm without restricting movement. Its heavy 26-ounce wool makes it a great outer layer in cool weather or an excellent mid-layer under a coat in colder conditions. The V-neck design also layers comfortably over hoodies, flannels, and sweaters without adding bulk around your neck.
-
Yes, especially in snow. Wool can absorb up to 35% of its weight in moisture while still providing warmth, making the Button Vest an excellent choice for cold, damp conditions. It isn't waterproof, however, so while it will handle light precipitation well, it's not designed for prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
-
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Button Vest. Spot cleaning can work for small stains as needed. If the coat becomes wet, allow it to air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Never machine dry your wool coat.

Big man? I’m 6’0” 295lbs, w/ 46” Waist & 54” chest, I wear the heck out of these vests. I’ve got the charcoal 3X long and it even fit me when I was 320lbs. I still wear it. It’s just a little longer now because my belly is smaller. I’ve also got the olive green 3XR this is my “go to.” It fits me perfectly. These are made so very well! Stylishly enough to where for special evens, church, but simple enough to wear as everyday wear with just a T-shirt! If you are a big man that is struggling to find the garment that keeps to at the right temperature when those big coats or jackets make you sweat because they cover your arms…… this is perfect. It covers my torso and keeps it warm when I am working with my arms! Perfect for layering too!

Same great heavy weight wool as the jacket. I adds a lot of warmth but you do need something for the arms. I use Stormy's wool shirt (under the Mackinaw jacket of course. As with the jacket, go a size larger than you usually would.

I have three of these awesome vests. One in red/black plaid, olive and the most recent in charcoal. The fit is perfect, material quality impeccable and the virgin wool warm and comfortable. I’ve worn them several times this winter in the Pacific Northwest and overall, I’m very pleased with how they performed outside. My only negative comment would be the charcoal vest. It’s not the same charcoal color listed for the Stormy Kromer Tough Mitts and Original Stormy Kromer cap. If hoping to color match, you don’t come close. I recommend Stormy Kromer indicate this in the description to assist future customers.

The vest adds a huge amount of warmth and insulation. In the past I just wore a thin fleece underneath the Mackinaw coat but with the vest I only need a good long sleeved shirt. And it looks great.

I really like this vest. The wool is heavy and feels a bit higher quality than a Filson. I am 6’1’ and 195 pounds and the large fits me well. The stitching and attention to detail are very good. Well worth the money. My only gripe is the new stormy Kromer label on the front of the vest. It really cheapens the look of the vest. I regard these as heritage items in that new label really spoiled it. I have a SK vest from a few years ago that does not have the label it looks so much better. Please please give this feedback to the designer team. They are spoiling the brand.

Not panicking yet ,but if it doesn't show up by the end of the week I'm going to start to get worried that UPS has lost my parcel. ---Hi Rodney, If you still have not received your vest, please reach out to us so we can look further into this for you. Great fit and features. 5’11” 180 lbs medium. Color black picks up all fluff in vicinity so i keep a fluff roller nearby.

It's a warm wool vest. Nice length and nice fit. I am 6'4", 38" waist, 200#. Size XL fits perfectly. An XL Long would have been too long and an XXL would have been to loose all around. Only thing I do not like is the tacky looking Stormy Kromer label sewn into the left front. Please go to some other branding or just do not put this on your clothing line. Looks tacky.
