Both are classic Stormy Kromer wool vests, but they offer different looks and features. The Button Vest has a traditional design with a button front, V-neck, and slightly heavier 26-ounce, 100% wool that matches our Mackinaw Coat. The Ironwood Vest has a more modern look with a full-length zipper, stand-up collar, and slightly lighter wool for everyday versatility.
-
The Button Vest fits true to size and is designed to layer comfortably over a flannel shirt or sweater. We recommend ordering based on the chest measurement in our sizing chart. If you are 6' or taller, you might consider our tall sizes.

A wool vest keeps your core warm while giving your arms full freedom of movement. It's a great choice for working outdoors, running errands, or layering when a full coat feels like too much. Many people find a vest to be one of the most versatile pieces in their cold-weather wardrobe.
-
The Button Vest is designed to keep your core warm without restricting movement. Its heavy 26-ounce wool makes it a great outer layer in cool weather or an excellent mid-layer under a coat in colder conditions. The V-neck design also layers comfortably over hoodies, flannels, and sweaters without adding bulk around your neck.
-
Yes, especially in snow. Wool can absorb up to 35% of its weight in moisture while still providing warmth, making the Button Vest an excellent choice for cold, damp conditions. It isn't waterproof, however, so while it will handle light precipitation well, it's not designed for prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
-
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Button Vest. Spot cleaning can work for small stains as needed. If the coat becomes wet, allow it to air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Never machine dry your wool coat.

This is my third vest, different colors, I love my vest for the longer backside coverage. They have kept me very warm and mobile while hunting and crusing timber (old forester) and going to more formal settings like church and out for the evening. Warm and mobile describe the advantages of a wool vest. THANK YOU Stormy Kromer ~~ John, thanks for loving our vests! SK ~~

Finally, a quality wool product that meets my expectations. It’s made with excellent material, put together with skilled stitching, looks great, and built to last. Some might say $149 is a lot for a vest. This vest will last a lifetime. That’s worth it, and then some. This is my third Stormy Kromer garment. There will likely be a forth. Thank you for what you do.

I just received my 3xlt button vest in the mail yesterday. It fits perfect with plenty of room to spare. I am wearing a heavy weight T-shirt and a long sleeve heavy cotton shirt beneath it. The vest fit still has room to spare. I am 6’3” and 285lbs. I have tried the Filson wool vest as well. It was far too skinny fitting for my liking. I don’t do “skinny” clothes. Plus, the customer service at Filson was horrible. Thank you Stormy Kromer for an AWESOME vest! Merry Christmas to ME!!!!

The body cut is too big. I am going to have to tailor it smaller to fit my flat stomach.
