The Button Vest has a traditional design with a button front, V-neck, and slightly heavier 26-ounce, 100% wool that matches our Mackinaw Coat. The Ironwood Vest has a more modern look with a full-length zipper, stand-up collar, and slightly lighter wool for everyday versatility.

  • The Button Vest fits true to size and is designed to layer comfortably over a flannel shirt or sweater. We recommend ordering based on the chest measurement in our sizing chart. If you are 6' or taller, you might consider our tall sizes.

  • Yes, especially in snow. Wool can absorb up to 35% of its weight in moisture while still providing warmth, making the Button Vest an excellent choice for cold, damp conditions. It isn't waterproof, however, so while it will handle light precipitation well, it's not designed for prolonged exposure to heavy rain.

  • Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Button Vest. Spot cleaning can work for small stains as needed. If the coat becomes wet, allow it to air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Never machine dry your wool coat.

    I have owned this vest for several years now and wear it from late Sept thru May in northern Wisconsin. It makes a huge difference in preserving core warmth, while allowing free arm mvmt if worn with a flannel - you will be suprised how warm it keeps you. When it gets colder, under a wool shirt jac it goes. I am 5'10" with 42 chest, 32 waist and I got the large, then had my seamstress snug the waist in as it was too roomy and would let a breeze in. Once this alteration was made, it was like wearing a little furace. Lastly, I have not babied this - wear it cutting wood, fishing, hunting - looks like the day I bought it.

    I like the construction of the vest, and its material. Unfortunately I ordered it a size to small and have to return for an exchange

    I purchased the vest early anticipating seasonal low stock issues, so I haven’t used it yet. I ordered the XL to fit my 5’11”, 210 lbs. frame with wide shoulders. It fits perfectly; just a little extra space in the belly zone. Craftsmanship is top shelf, and the materials couldn’t be better. I’m looking forward to the temperature dropping, and moving into my SK vest. Thanks to all of those who produce these fine products.

    Absolutely love it. I can’t wait to see how well it keeps me dry and warm come fall and through the winter. It’s simple enough to work in and sharp enough to where with business casual or formal. It fits to actual size. I am 6’0” 320 lbs, 46” waist and 58” chest and the 3XL fits very well. So well, that I can wear it as a over garment or for layering. Definitely worth every cent. I will be getting the Forest Green and Navy Blue as well. Also I’ve even worn this in August early in the morning with just a tShirt. Great fix, great look, and I love it!

    I can’t say enough about this vest. 6’ 225Lb the xl fits great. A little roomy, more than adequate length, leave the bottom button undone. Heavy wool (I went with the gray). Absolutely no problems with loose threads or stitching. In this day of working from home and video calls, putting this on is a smart business casual look. I am cozy, wrapped in all natural fibers and incredibly happy. Actually enjoy all the pockets. Team this up with a jeans, heritage boots made in the USA and sip some bourbon. I greatly appreciated he folks at Stormy Kromer.

    What a beautifully made, well designed, American-made item of clothing. Only issue is size. It is slightly smaller than the designated XL; otherwise would've rate 5 stars.
