The Waxed Cotton Cap

If you are going to have one, the waxed cotton are the ones to pick, they work in all weather. I have the Field Tan, it's a little darker than in the photo, to the good though. I also have the original in red plaid wool that I wear in very cold weather, also outstanding. I have more hats than I will ever need but these two caps from SK get more use than any of the ones that now spend more time with moth balls than on my head, SK makes great hats. I usually wear a 7 3/8 but bought the 7 1/2 as it was more comfortable so, I would make the recommendation to all who buy or order one to get the next size above what they normally purchase for the best fit. There was a guy below who rated this hat one star and said it needed ventalation. Uhmmmm, Ok, this is a waxed hat targeted for keeping one's head dry in the rain, so if it were to have ventilation, it would not be the hat it is targeted to be, and the person wearing it would get wet. If you need a ventilated hat, then it isn't raining, and you may want to choose one of the non waxed summer style ball caps from SK. They do offer summer style hats too! This hat right here is for cooler, wet weather. Just Sayin'.

Not sure how many SK hats I have but this is my favorite one. Just got back from a trip to Zimbabwe where I wore it every day; got a ton of compliments on it. Fits perfectly and easy to recondition - used Filson wax, now totally water proof. Also have a Blaze Orange one for deer season.

I have purchased 7 Kromers over the last 20 years. I absolutely love this one. It is perfect for cool/wet weather in spring and fall. I still wear the wool Kromers when it's cold and snowy but I have found this lighter weight and water resistant hat to be perfect for outdoor activities when you don't need the heavier warmth. For fishing and boating, spring and fall, I wear this hat all the time. I also wear it for running errands and outdoor chores. I have been a Kromer fan for years. I think this is a great addition to the Kromer line. This might be my favorite Kromer, although I love the others too. This is a great hat!Mark, over on the thumb.

Just received my TWO Waxed Cotton Caps (Tan and Blaze Orange) to go with my collection of SK caps (Now Seven Total of Various Types) to protect my bald head. Since it was raining, I had the perfect opportunity to test out the water-resistant quality of each. They both passed with flying colors! I could not recommend Stormy Kromer caps any more than I currently am. I wear them to church and somebody ALWAYS compliments me about the cap I am wearing (not in the Sanctuary though). This is an important note because I don't get compliments about the way I dress--ever. Maybe I should buy a shirt or a coat from Stormy Kromer too. -Rich12_66
