You really can wear a Kromer all year round. We kept the classic style of the Original, but cut it from lightweight, water-resistant 100% waxed cotton duck. When the chilly morning gives way to a sunny afternoon, just pull up the earband and you'll be comfortable all day long.

The Waxed Cotton Cap is designed for cool, wet weather—not extreme cold. It's uninsulated, making it best suited for fall, spring, and other cool, wet days. In milder climates, it may work well as a winter cap, but in colder regions it won't provide the same warmth as the Original or Rancher.

Choose the Waxed Cotton Cap when you expect wet weather and want added water resistance. Its waxed canvas shell sheds rain while developing a distinctive weathered look over time.

The Waxed Cotton Cap is water-resistant, not waterproof. Its paraffin-treated waxed cotton shell sheds rain and snow in most conditions, but because the seams aren't sealed, it's not designed for prolonged exposure to heavy rain.

Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

Simply slide your thumb between the earband and the cap, then pull the earband down over your ears. There's no need to untie or unfold anything. When you're ready, just pull it back up into place for the classic Stormy Kromer look.

Spot cleaning is the best way to care for your Waxed Cotton Cap. Cold water is often all you need, but if necessary, use a gentle castile soap. Avoid hot water, laundry detergent, and dish soap, as they can damage the waxed finish. Over time, you may need to rewax your cap to restore its water resistance. We offer wax tins specifically for that purpose.

This is my first cotton cap and I don’t know why I waited to get one. Love it, cooler and lighter for those warm motor hot days. Fits great (true to size) and the color is better in person. This is my new go to hat for the warmer seasons.

Perfect hat for when the weather is cool or when it's rainy, but not cold enough for a wool Stormy. The Dark oak is a perfect color. Nice to able to order an American made product in the size you want!

I was worried that this hat might sit too high on my head based on some reviews I read and I have a large hat. If anything, it actually sits down too far down and pushes on the top of me ears. I’d rather that than be too small though. Nice hat, been wearing it a lot!

poor construction of the ear cover. hang out very loose. does not represent what i expect of a Kromer ~ Sorry to hear the construction of the cap isn't up to par. You can always exchange the cap. Give our customer service a call at 888-455-2253 for assistance.

I'm now ordering my 3rd cap due to them all running small. My first cap was ordered per the sizing guide, which happened to match my normal size. The hat came, and was way to small. I ordered the next size up. It to was also too small and not much bigger than the first. Now I'm ordering my 3rd cap. I hope the 3rd time is a charm, but I could have bought two caps with all the time and money that has been wasted on shipping charges. Don't trust the sizing guide and order atleast one size up. ~Sorry to hear that sizing has been a struggle for you. Our customer service is always available to assist in finding your right size.
