The Mackinaw Coat is very well made and very warm. I can only suggest that a lining of rayon would make it much easier to get on and off over winter sweater.

This jacket has quite a baggy fit in my opinion, especially for a medium. While it does allow plenty of room for layering, there are times that the extra bulk just isn’t needed, even in Alaska. Surprisingly it still drapes nicely with all that space but it looks oversized on me. I immediately went online to see if they have a small in stock but apparently SK doesn’t even make that size. Oh well. Some things just aren’t meant to be. ~~ Sorry the jacket didn't fit like you expected. We are pretty generous on fit so things can be layered underneath. Thank you for sharing your honest review. SK ~~

I saw some comments on this coat not being warm enough, or in need of a liner. I disagree. It is an excellent coat that is quite comfortable. If extra warmth is needed I would suggest the 6 button vest underneath. I love all my Kromer products. Keep up the great work SK

I'm 5'9, about 170 pounds, and I have a 40" chest. This makes buying shirts and jackets a constant hassle, because depending on the cut of the garment, I'm never sure if a medium will fit me, or if it'll be snug. Seeing that the person modeling this coat is supposedly 5'10 and 190lbs, wearing a medium, I felt confident going with a medium. The medium fit well, but it did not fit in a practical way. If I were only to wear the jacket standing at all times, without any layers underneath, it would have been great. It looked great. However, bending over to tie my boots, or reaching my arms out, or sitting down -- these maneuvers were all restricted, especially if it was buttoned up. I went up to a large and it does have a baggier look to it since I'm at the bottom of the size range, but I'm much happier with it. I almost always have a heavy flannel or henley under it, and sometimes have an additional shacket as a mid-layer, and it accommodates that additional bulk very well. I never could have layered in the medium.

The size and comfort is only surpassed by its style. Great Value

The jacket is warm, moderately windproof and breathable due to thick and tightly woven material. I like that the jacket is unlined so that it breaths when you are active. It is comfortable walking/hiking in temps in the 20's over a long sleeved base layer and wool shirt. It is generously cut so you could add another layer for colder temps. I have found unlined nylon and softshell jackets are very windproof but don't breath well and so you end up taking them off after a period of activity and then get cold. I also like that it insulates well when damp. The collar covers your neck well when up. If you get too warm you can tie it around your waist. The coat is tough enough for hiking in the woods but looks nice enough to wear for sharp casual.
