It runs BIG compared to most store bought clothing items. I purchased the 2XLT and had to return it for a XLT. I always purchase 2XLT when available (5'10" 255). I was swimming it this and had to exchange. Family said I looked silly. If you are not sure what size to get, probably error on the smaller choice. Seems like a really well made coat and I am hoping to get the years out of it other reviewers suggest. I purchased the Charcoal color. It is almost BLACK and probably should be called called Dark Gray. I purchased a Charcoal hat and the color is Light Gray. I called to ask if they matched prior to the order so I knew in advance. Would have preferred a matching hat. The dark gray is very nice looking and is Business Appropriate for an Office Job. Wife was concerned I would look like a hunter walking into a boardroom meeting. I purchased this Coat this Spring so it would be unfair to make a statement on the warmth. I will find out next year. ~~I'm so sorry to hear we didn't get the matching hat for you! Please reach out to [email protected] regarding this and we'll be happy to get this taken care of for you SK~~

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and it is a fine piece of craftsmanship! It is an old school coat, which in my , and my husband's, book is a wonderful thing. It is densely woven, roomy, warm, and gorgeous. Outdoors ladies, if you want your man to look ruggedly handsome, this is the coat to buy him! It will last a lifetime and can be passed on to your progeny, just as I have my dad's old hunting coat. Stormy Kroner clothing is the opposite of " fast fashion" and that's why I've purchased multiple items for him and for me over the years. Keep up the good USA work, Stormy, and I love that you work with the St. Luke's N. E.W. Life Center in Flint. Dang, I'm almost in tears thinking about how this company is doing wonderful things for our beautiful state of Michigan.

Sewing the extra buttons in an obscure place on the coat would be very helpful to keep track of them. Nice garment. Somewhat water repellant. On the coldest days of a Michigan winter, something underneath like an ultra light weight down jacket or sweater is needed. Really like the BIG collar; fasten the top button, turn up the collar and receive excellent protection from cold wind. Looks great. It makes for a striking image to wear the red and black.

I own 2 of these coats and the are top notch. Are they a stand alone cold weather winter jacket……no. But that’s why in my opinion they are made “Generous Cut” . So that you can layer with it. The coat then becomes multi-season. I layer with a warm hoodie in the middle of these UP winters and stay toasty warm! I am constantly in the woods and don’t baby this jacket either! Its durable! A plus it’s also good looking too! 100% Yooper approved.

Beautifully made. However it’s not as heavy as it looks on internet. It’s more of a mid season not a winter jacket. Latest dip into the 20s end of March I could test it out. Good thing I got it big enough to put some layers on underneath. But very well made like all sk stuff. If you want a heavy wool coat like yer dad or grandpas old wool rich from 1970s it ain’t it but you can layer up cause this one will last just as long!!

Love the coat unfortunatley the generous sizing is too generous for me. At 5'-5" and a 150 lbs, a medium was just too big. My other medium Kromer vests, shirts and jacket fit well.

I have worn the same Mackinac coat for 10 years and I just love it. I put the coat on layaway at a local shop while I picked up extra shifts so to pay for it( I was 18 at the time). Since then It has been my primary winter coat including winter camping and rabbit hunting. It has seen a lot of miles and hard use but still looks nearly new, except most of the buttons have fallen off in just the last two years. It works great as a stand alone in mild to moderate winter and is great for layering in extreme conditions(proper layering is the only way to go in extremes not one coat to rule them all). The neck is rather open so a scarf is necessary on windy days but the thick fabric holds out the wind in all other areas. The only complaint I ever had was the sleeves were too short but I got over it. I just bought a new one in red plaid, size large tall, and the sleeves are a good length and dang does it look good.
