The Mackinaw Coat

I have wanted this coat for several years. I found a really good price online and ordered it. I wear 2xl gloves and whenever I try to use the pockets my hands fall short of going in all the way. So they need to increase the depth of the pockets and the forearms are cut a little too snug, like i feel like I have popeye forearms, NOT... Otherwise it is a fine looking coat and the wool is so soft.

This coat is amazing and worth every penny. I love the oversized collar, it helps with the wind. It’s very warm and looks sharp. The only thing it needs is inside pockets I would highly recommend.

I found my Stormy Mack Coat / North Star pattern at the Carhartt store in Chesaning,Michigan. Priced at $300. A steal for such a quality Coat. All 4 colors were available, but that North Star pattern looks great with any color pant. The build quality is top notch and the stiching is absolute quality. No need to layer with this coat, the wool keeps the torso toasty. Super stylish, the Mackinaw Coat screams Burberry WHO? I recommend this coat, especially in North Star. Treat yourself to looking good!

I’ve been looking for this coat !! Brings back memories of when I was a kid. Wish I could buy it can’t for now.

5’11 200lb ordered med and fits good. For the price you can’t beat it, stays warm to about 20deg. Could improve upon 3 things: 1:the sleeves could be lined with something slippery to allow movement, 2: sleeve opening could be a little bigger (I have big wrists) 3: a gusset on the back to allow for greater arm movement. I’ll probably buy a double Mackinaw P.S the top hand pockets are useless

Owned the original Mackinaw coat in Red/Black plaid, size 50. I loved it. It fit perfectly -- it was roomy, you could layer beneath it, without being bulky or with too much material. Purchased the new version and charcoal gray, size XXL. Consulted with live chat about the sizing since they switched from traditional numbered sizing (50 or 52) to XL and XXL. When I received the coat I could not have been more disappointed. It fits and wears completely different than the original coat, which was perfect. It's bulky, has too much material, it's too long in the sleeves, and generally fits very poorly. I will not buy another Mackinac coat form Stormy Kromer unless they bring the original sizing back.

I didn’t know what to expect but after receiving mine in the mail it earns a woah this is very high quality. I’m not sure where the wool is weaved for this coat but it’s perfection. It’s a dense, and smooth fabric that makes me think it’s luxury brand material. Sewing looks great, shoulder fit perfectly. Pockets were a concern of mine after reading reviews but they are all great so don’t listen to anyone whine about them. The upper hand pockets are similar to WW2 USN peacoats, and the lower ones are nice too. Being a bit over 6 ft tall the long is perfect. Again, wasn’t expecting the coat to be this nice but it is. 5 stars!

I have had the mackinaw coat in a size medium for several years and tried very hard to like it. I ended up disappointed and I recently decided not to keep it. This decision was based on the way it fit. I usually wear a size large, often finding myself between a medium and a large. I chose the medium because the torso and waist area is quite large on these. A large would have been incredibly too large for an athletic body type. I needed more of an athletic fit - trimmer in the torso and abdomen, with room in the arms and shoulders. I'm 5'8 1/2" and 170 pounds. My coat was just the opposite. I did not feel there was adequate mobility in the shoulders and arms. Another issue, which has been discussed in other reviews, is the location and design of the upper pockets. These serve no purpose at all. Nothing can be put in them and they are much too high for hand warmer pockets. I would highly suggest that they not be included on the coat or that pockets similar to the lower pockets be used. The quality of the wool with this coat is exceptional and I would have loved for this to work out. I have a SK vest with the same wool in size large that fits perfect, and I proudly wear it often. When I have an opportunity, I will try one of the new Double Mackinaw coats in hopes that the fit is better. ~ Good morning, We are sorry that the coat didn't quite work out for you. So I bought this coat last year and it was daily wear, it was a bit big but an awesome coat. At the Memorial Day sale I got another one (that’s how good they are) and the sizing is perfection. Sturdy, warm, the best coat I’ve ever owned!
