The Mackinaw Coat

Purchased the Mackinaw coat after a factory tour in the summer of 2016. I looked forward to winter and have not been disappointed for 2 years of wear. The colder the better. The fabric, seams, buttons and colors have held out beautifully and still looks like a new coat. Keep producing great products in the UP and I will keep buying!

Customer service was great and I received my Mackinaw coat quickly. The quality of the wool and workmanship was excellent. However, I found the sizing to be off. I ordered the XL coat based on the sizing chart. The shoulders, waist and length were fine, however, the arms were too tight to the point I almost couldn't slide my arms thru the sleeves with a sweater on - I've never had that problem with any coat before. This made for a very uncomfortable and un-wearable fit. I returned the coat per instructions and received my refund quickly. If there was 1 more inch on the diameter of the sleeves it would have been the perfect coat.

I received the Mackinaw coat along with a SK Outfitter vest in size large. The vest fit fine. The coat fit in the chest, but the sleeves in the forearms are very tight and uncomfortable wearing only a lightweight cotton shirt. I ordered another, in an XL, hoping sleeves were roomier. They were better but unfortunately the rest of the coat was too big. I noticed that recently there have been several comments addressing the same issue. The coat would be fantastic if the forearm sleeves were larger. ~~ Thank you for your feedback. We will get this information to our design team. SK ~~

I received this coat almost a week ago, and have been putting it to the test in single digits and negatives temperatures. So far it has exceeded my expectations in quality and warmth. I had been eyeing this coat for about 2 years now and finally decided to pull the trigger on it. One of my main concerns was that it wasn't going to be thick enough. When I received the coat I was surprised that it was fairly thick and was a very tightly woven wool. I want to compare this coat to my hunting parka that is insulated as well as my carhartt coat that I wear for work. I typically wear and shirt jacket under my carhartt when temperatures get around 35 degrees or lower. I treated the mackinaw coat the same way for my tests and I found that it was actually warmer than my carhartt coat. The mackinaw coat breaths really well, much better than my carhartt and my hunting parka. The quality of the mackinaw coat is probably far nicer than about anything I own. I really only have two complaints. One is I do wish the sleeves were just cut slightly longer and bigger around. I'm about 6'5" and it's difficult to find shirts and things that fit me right to begin with. As the sleeves are now they won't really make the coat unwearable it would just be more of preference. The second would be to line the sleeves with silk or something. Other than that I really can't say anything bad about it, it is warm and does have a nice cut to it. I would definitely buy this coat again.

Came in a timely manner and is the best coat I have for cold weather. Reminds me of a jacket giving yo me by my dad as a kid . Looking forward to getting another one for plowing and fishing .

Nicely made jacket in every detail except one. The sleeves at the forearm are so snug I can barely wear a sweater under it. I wonder if this is a flaw in my jacket or the way it’s supposed to fit. I sure would like to know. It sure seem like you should have room for a substantial sweater under it.
