When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.

The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. With 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation, fleece-lined earbands, and extended coverage, it's made for those who spend real time outdoors in the cold. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.
No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.
Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

I’m 6’8” and I have searched almost everywhere to find a nice warm winter hat that fits me. I ordered a size 8 Black Rancher hat that arrived a day before the weather got cold here 80 miles south of Chicago . I was a mailman for many years and I found myself wishing I had one of these hats back then. Mine fit perfectly and covers my ears perfectly. My search is over this Black Rancher hat is well made and very warm and fits!!! I wish I knew about this hat years ago! I like the fact that I can register my hat and it has a lifetime warranty! Bravo to the staff at Stormy Kromer for this wonderful hat!!!

Received the free Stormy Kromer tape measure and the hat I received is a perfect fit. The construction is top quality. It is very warm, and I can't wait to use this hat during the very windy cold South Dakota winters.

Some things to note: it has a significantly higher or roomier dome (crown?) to the hat. Different from the normal Stormy Kromer hot, you need to pull this one down over your ears to have it hit down on your head like the other hat. The other point you should know about is the fold down ear band. Because of how far down it comes, its bottom edge sits low along the back of your neck. If you turn your head to look up, it pushes to front of the hat down on your forehead.

I'm going to like this hat. Temps were in the twenties, and just standing around outside watching the dog my head started warming up. It's going to be too much when it's in the 40's, but riding the tractor pushing snow, this cap is going to be "it". Probably the best quality headgear I've ever had. I'm glad I decided to spoil myself.

Thinsulate insulation a plus! I adjusted my hat size up an eighth and enjoy that fit. Looks great, feels great, makes me feel great!
