A pop collar on a versatile, sporty wool vest that comes in plaids and solids with the quintessential Stormy Kromer® promise: Our clothing is made by real people for real people and it's made to last. The SK Outfitter is, in fact, made like you.
Love my outfitter vest, this is my second one, match it with a Kromer flannel and hat, and it’s perfect from fall through spring.
Needed a good warm vest to add to my hunting gear and this does double duty. It's warm and convenient as an addition to my hunting gear and doubles as a great add on to any casual event.
Love my new vest, very warm when going in and out of a vehicle, pair it with a SK hat
I would have given it 5 stars but the so-called XL was definitely a XXL. I am 220 & 5'10" with an athletic build. I normally wear an XL. In fact a competitors brand in which I fit an XL is know to their "Alaska Fit" which is a larger cut. Their XL fits me. The SK fit was a full size too large. For the first time since I can't remember, I am exchanging my SK for a large. All that being said, the positive is that it is a fine quality garment with great attention to detail. I would recommend it but definitely order a full size smaller than you are used to.
Everything I bought this year was Christmas gifts and everyone loved them and I have 4 diff hats that I wear and love every single one of them have one for huntn and one for out on the town n 2 for Workman love them all most comfortable hats I’ve ever wore thank you
I love this vest and get many compliments on it. However - a couple suggestions:The collar is a bother in the front especially while sitting (and driving). I'm taking it to a tailor to have button holes put in the collar by the zipper and buttons sewn on the vest so I can button the collar down when I don't want it sticking up. Like other buyers, I wear a medium in everything else. I couldn't even zip up the medium so I ordered a large. It fits well but is probably four inches longer than the medium so it hangs way below my waist (and shows below a jacket). ~~ We will pass this along to our design team. Thanks for the input! SK ~~
Love this vest design.....and the collar.....it's simple. For that I give it 5 stars. I must add a caveat.....unfortunately, it didn't fit. Before returning I did take the vest to a professional tailor to copy so I could get one that did fit. It was only 30 bucks more. Nevertheless, I do understand you got a business to run and need to sell to a market segment in order to survive.
I have several SK shirts that I have purchased over the years and have always found that the Medium size fits perfectly. Roomy but not too baggy. When I decided to get an Outfitter vest, I naturally ordered a size Medium. When I received it I was surprised that it fit like a sausage casing! I don't know who decided that an outer garment should be sized smaller than the garment it is worn over, but it was. I returned it for a size Large and it fit perfect. Other than that, I love the vest. It's very comfortable and stylish. I am wearing it right now, because we are having a cold snap down here in Texas.
I have to agree about the collar being a bit stiff when zipped all the way up. (There are about 8 layers of fabric where the collar joins the vest and zipper.) The partridge plaid has a wonderful color palate. The vest is light and cozy and warm. It does seem that some effort should be made to match at least the horizontal visual lines on the left and right, and the vertical lines on the yolk and back piece. Since even the vest examples featured on-line are often mismatched left to right, this is apparently not a priority. The partridge pattern minimizes the visual impact of mismatches in any case. I really like the pocket design. (I've had a SK hat for two winters, and except for ski-mask demanding conditions, it's great.)
It's a great vest and the fit is true according to the size chart. The only recommendations I'd make are that while wearing alone or with an outside layer, the collar is scratchy against the neck. Perhaps an even softer one-piece felted material surrounding the inside of the collar would be more comfortable. The zipper is also a bit stiff the further up you zip the jacket and does scratch the neck if turning your head side to side. The look of the jacket is great, however if this cosmetic issue with the collar was fixed it might be more comfortable.
