Made from authentic HARRIS TWEED imported from Scotland, this cadet-style cap is a unique alternative to our Original Stormy Kromer® Cap, while still providing desired warmth and style. Unlined and a slightly lighter weight than our traditional wools, this flat top cap is perfect for both fall and spring.
To get your size, measure comfortably around your head where your cap will sit, with a tape measure. Take that number in inches, divide by 3.14 (pi) and round up to the nearest eighth. This is your cap size. See the chart for size conversions. You can also print out our hat sizer, click here.
Received my cap 3 days before the big storm yesterday. I live right on the beach north of Boston and the wind gusts were over 70mph. I am happy to say that it lives up to it’s name!
Hat had the potential of being 100% Great, but fails in one major area. Wearability. First, let's look at what's great about the Cap? It's made in the USA, and the workmanship is good. It's Wool! The men's styling is modern, and Solid, (it's a flat top)! So what's not so Great? The black band inside the cap. The quality of that band is cheap and not suitable for hat or cap bands because it is too STIFF. At the front of the Cap, the band makes 3 or 4 hard edges, or ridges, that cut into the wearer's forhead. (Hasn't the Cap been tested by one the men emplyees at Stormy Kromer?). The same day I received this Cap, I also receive a Stormy Kromer dark brown wool flat-top cap, purchased on eBay. It came in a handsome solid Stormy Cromer box. The black inside band was made of a different, SOFTER material that does not cut into one's forehead! ~~ We're sorry to hear that you're not happy with your new cap. Please know that you can always return an item you're not satisfied with within 90 days. SK ~~
I have always liked Stormy Kromer products and have several different items. I was excited with the tweed wool cap but compared to the other flat top cap I have it is a thinner material and not as heavy duty of a cap. I see someone else commented on the size running 1/4 small and that is the case with my cap too. It fits but it’s better when I have a closer haircut than when it is longer. It’s slightly undersized. Overall it’s a good cap but i expected it to be more like my other flat top in terms of weight and structure, especially for the additional cost of the wool. It was thinner and lighter. I like the cap but I would probably not buy another tweed unless it was a lot more discounted than $41.
Recently picked up two of these hats, one being the charcoal grey flat top hat, and the other being the Harris Tweed flat top hat. Both hats are very nice, and are well constructed of good material. No complaints there! However, beware that the flat top hats seem to run a bit smaller, than my previous Stormy Kromer hat of the same size. My first hat was a Mackinaw, and I ordered it in 7 3/4, and it fits my head perfectly and is very, very comfortable. 4 winters later, and i'm still very satisfied with the Mackinaw. Ordered the flat tops in 7 3/4 and they both run uncomfortably tight. If it weren't for the sizing issue, i'd happily give these hats 5 stars, but unfortunately, it's a 4 star situation.
They say that when you own a Stormy Kromer, no other cap will ever satisfy your taste for comfort or quality. And we believe that’s true too, so we offer what other clothing manufacturers might consider a little crazy. Learn more here.
