OUTSTANDING Review by Poppy
Overall
I got this great jacket with the zip in vest for Christmas of '12.
This is a great jacket/vest combo. I have tested this jacket in our recent -20 degree windchill and found my self quite comfortable. The Stormy Kromer cap tops off my whole gitup of the classic red/black checkered pattern. I love the U.P. and this is just another reason why. USA made by the best people on the Earth! Thanks Guys!

Worth its weight in gold Review by Trustfull Marksmen
Overall
I am a college student in Sault Ste. Marie Mi. This fall I purchased the Mackinac coat from a local retailer and I had to work a lot of extra shifts to pay for it, but it was worth every penny! The 100% wool is soft and has kept me warm in wind chill factors below -30 degrees! It simply does not let the wind through (except at the collar but a scarf takes care of that) So far this has been one nasty winter but with a light layer underneath my Mackinac has done more than keep me warm it keeps me comfortable during weeks of below zero temperatures. As a stand alone jacket its warm to below freezing. With layers underneath you will be warm in almost any weather. This will be the last winter jacket you will ever need. (Posted on 2/7/14)
Well made, but could be better Review by Dave
Overall
I've always been a fan of wool hunting coats, the classical look and feel beats all in my opinion. I bought the this Mackinaw coat last year and I love it, I love the feel, the weight, and the warmth, and I love how it's made in my own State of Michigan. However, when I review and judge the overall product I bought, I, like many, like to compare it to other products in the same league it in. As many who have looked at other Mackinaw wool coats, many know that the company of Filson makes a classical Wool Mackinaw cruiser, which has existed long before Stormy Kromer started making it's coat line. I was given a Filson Mackinaw cruiser years ago, and judging it to the Stormy Kromer, both are the same in my opinion in quality and warmth (though I heard Filson now makes their coat 2oz lighter than used & than this Kromer jacket, which isn't great). The pros of the Stormy are the more warmth compare to new Filsons are the bigger buttons which are easier to un-do than the Filson's, the pocket buttons compare to the Filson's snap-in buttons which get accidentally un-do easily, the exterior front pocket design and the four slide in pockets the Kromer has, and obviously the cheaper price. The cons are that the Kromer lacks the back carry pocket the Filson has, the lack of interior pockets like the FIlson has, and the Kromer has cheap poor-quality buttons. If Kromer included some of these features on this coat, it would superior to the Filson, however I can make do with those features and I believe for the overall package, this coat is better than the Filson's, though it could improve. Well made, but not warm enough Review by AA
Overall
I think for the amount this coat costs, it should be a lot warmer. I live in NYC, where the winters are not as cold as some other reviewers. I find once the temperature hits the mid 30's, I need to wear a thermal sweatshirt under it. Below 20, I need to switch to a different jacket altogether. I am rather disappointed overall. Great coat with one exception Review by Little_Cornball

I purchased this coat for hunting and am pleased with the quality, but am very disappointed that the zip in liner was discontinued. Outside of that I am looking forward to some years of heavy use out of this coat. (Posted on 12/6/13)
Great Coat Review by Pvt. Joker
Overall
Got the Mackinaw in Olive a few years ago for Christmas, with the zip in vest. I am 6'7" and 280lbs, and the tall fits me perfectly. I love this coat, and on the extra cold days, the zip-in helps me to stay warm. I am just a little disappointed that the wool is imported. Very happy that they construct them right here in Michigan, though. (Posted on 2/2/13)

Absolutely None Better Review by Wool Man
Overall
I've been wearing wool outer garments for close to fifty years. At 6'5" and 270 lbs. the SK 52 Tall Mackinaw coat is a perfect fit. The 26 oz.weight virgin wool wears better than any other coat I've had and with the added vest provides all the warmth I need. After two winters of constant use my coat still looks like new. Plan on ordering same coat in charcoal soon. (Posted on 8/23/12)
