Stormy Kromer Sewer
SK: What’s your role at Stormy Kromer?
MA: I put the earband on the cap. It’s a big job, and I love it.

SK: What are you most proud of in your work?
MA: My favorite thing is to see people wearing our caps. That puts a smile on my face, and I think: I sewed that!

SK: So, do you have a sewing machine at home?
MA:
No, but my first job out of high school was in a sewing factory. I’ve been doing this awhile.

SK: What kind of person works at Stormy Kromer?
MA:
You’ve got to be an honest, hard-working, happy person to be here. If you don’t like your job, why do it? You’ve got to be happy with it, and I expect that all of us are.

SK: When we say “True. Since 1903.” what do you think that means?
MA:
To me, it means good clothes and outdoor gear that will last a lifetime. And it just keeps getting better and better as time goes on.

SK: What’s your favorite piece of Stormy Kromer clothing?
MA:
It’s the Original wool cap. I buy those for everyone—even one for my grandbaby who’s not here yet!—but I haven’t gotten around to picking one up for myself.

SK: What keeps you at Stormy Kromer?
MA: I like it here. I like what I’m doing. Believe it or not, I like to get up and come to work every day—I walk in with a smile on my face.

SK: What’s your best day so far?
MA: Oh, my first day. I’d been trying to get a job here for a year, and I was just so excited to start.

SK: What does “Made in America” mean to you?
MA:
When I look inside the cap and see the flag and “Made in the USA” label, I know people are getting good quality and that they’ll be proud to wear it. What we make will last their whole lives.

SK: Any other advice for the people who’ll read this?
MA: You’re gonna love Kromer gear. Go get some!

  1. I have two hats and am looking at the Rancher next.Wish there was a better choice in colors on the Rancher, but most important, it will keep my ears warm!

  2. My sister and a teacher friend have been inducted into Club SK and that, that is an honor… I don’t think they really “know” what they’ve received yet, but with time and wear they will come to realize what a treasure they have in their fine new cord caps! Thank you for all of your work and excellent seamstress care in each product. I love mine and I have determined that I will never need to wonder about the holidays… There is something at SK for everyone on my list, and with your new merchandise, something better every year i.e. if you can get any better! Thanks for making the BEST!

  3. It’s great to have such an awesome company right here in the Northland and the U.S.A! So proud of my big sister Missy and her feature here on her job with SK. Not only does her job help support her family but it affects us all here in the Northwoods and the USA – way to keep it made right here where it belongs :) Great job Missy -Love you!

  4. I wear a blaze orange Stormy Kromer while hunting and this year I shot an elk West of Kaycee Wyoming and in my picture I am wearing the Stormy Kromer. It is a well made hat.

  5. I love hearing Melissa’s story. She did a perfect job on my SK. I happen to have been in New Glarus WI at their brewery and pick up my cap. I live in the high desert in Ca. and this cap is awesome for those cold mornings. Made in the USA is the reason I purchased this cap. Once I put it on my head, well you know the rest, now I want more caps. Thank you SK and all the crew, you are what America is all about.

  6. I love my Petal Pusher Cap so much, everyone on my list got a Stormy Kromer Cap this year! It’s hard to find products that are American made these days. After all these years, it’s fantastic that Stormy Kromer is still Made in America. Thanks to all the folks at Stormy Kromer for making great quality products!

  7. Thank you Melissa! I own 5 original SK, 1 waxed cotton, 1 lightweight and now 2 new brimless! Not a single failure. Great job!

  8. Thank you for making a wonderful hat. Hadn’t heard of Stormy Kromer gear until we were in Bayfield Wisc for Applefest this year. It was a cold and windy weekend. One of the street vendors was selling Stormy Kromer hats. How inpresssed we were with their knowledge and their help finding the right size and style. There were 4 of us and we each bought a hat. My husband and I wear our hats most of the time. I don’t think there is a day that someone doesn’t ask were I got it and were they can find then. May you and all your co-workers continue to be proud of your company and the quality of your products. I’m sure i will be making more purchases in the future.
